I left journalism in 2016 after working more than 15 years as a staff writer and editor at publications ranging from alt-weeklies to daily newspapers to magazines to online news and news apps. Regardless of where I worked, I was known for crafting deeply researched, narrative-driven longform stories. Among other projects, I produced podcasts about journalism, founded Oregon's first independent journalism organization, and organized and ran two journalism conferences.
